Hi redback,

Interesting point you made about melanoma. A less common form called acral lentiginous melanoma is referred to as 'hidden melanoma' because it occurs on areas not usually associated with sun exposure.

I scanned your link. Seems to have a comprehensive approach to the field.

Stick around; I have just started my section on cancer types. Melanoma will surely be a topic I will explore. However this site is not trying to replicate other cancer sites, though I will have to go into a bit of detail on common cancers.

By the way, you made a point about not all tumours being cancer. I have covered that in one of my introductory articles. Take a look if you care to - http://cancer.suite101.com/article.cfm/w...

One final thought. There are those who believe that in the strictest sense, carcinoma in situ is not cancer as it is localized. What do you think?
